This session focuses on cross-curricular possibilities for a Makerspace at the middle and high school levels. The session will focus on student engagement and faculty outreach for implementing a library Makerspace in all subject areas, including uses for 3D printers, Makey Makey, littleBits, Raspberry Pi, virtual reality, LEGOs, and arts and crafts. Participants will leave with a wealth of ideas for integrating Makerspaces as an important part of their school curriculum.
We renovated our library last summer and added a dedicated Makerspace. The space has become an important part of our library program, and we continue to add curricular options. We believe this topic and the ideas in our presentation are timely and offer practical uses for collaboration between teachers and the library media center at any school.
